When you have a computer related problem, chances are a solution is already on the internet. The trouble is finding it. Among thousands of forums and resources, somebody has already asked your question and received a solution. You could go to the trouble of finding a specialized newsgroup or mailing list with knowledgeable users, then detailing every aspect of your issue and waiting for responses. But instead, why not skip right to those answers that you know are already out there?
Dev Archives tracks the content in these resources and makes sure it will remain available to all who search for it. Visitors arrive from within our site and from search engines where they started their hunt for information. The site updates constantly, making sure all the discussions are as up to date as possible. Dev Archives consists of three kinds of collected information: newsgroups, mailing lists, and FAQs. To allow our community to add or share information in addition to what is archived, they may also drop by the Dev Archives Forums.
More than 130 newsgroups are continually updated in Dev Archives, and the number is steadily growing. Each of these newsgroups has been hand picked for inclusion based on how active and useful the discussions are.

By watching 25 mailing lists, Dev Archives stays up to date on current issues and programming technologies in these groups. The knowledge shared in mailing lists would be gone after users delete their email, if not for these archives. The mailing lists mostly cover the same technologies as our newsgroups. Dev Archives has also been collecting FAQs from across the internet. These frequently asked questions and answers are regularly discussed and updated. They are very complete and highly supported by the network of users who created them. Most of the FAQs involve things such as web technologies, operating systems, programming and compilers.
